IndiaAI and Microsoft Partner to Drive AI Innovation and Leadership in India
IndiaAI and Microsoft have joined forces to accelerate artificial intelligence (AI) adoption and innovation in India, focusing on key pillars such as skilling, innovation, ethical AI practices, and inclusive growth. This collaboration aims to position India as a global AI leader while fostering sustainable development.
As an Independent Business Division (IBD) under the Digital India Corporation, IndiaAI has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft to further the objectives of the IndiaAI Mission. The partnership emphasizes skilling, innovation, and responsible AI, targeting citizen-centric challenges and economic transformation.
Highlights of the IndiaAI-Microsoft Collaboration
- Skilling 500,000 Individuals by 2026: Microsoft, in partnership with IndiaAI, plans to train half a million people, including students, educators, developers, government officials, and women entrepreneurs, by 2026.
- Promoting Rural AI Innovation: Establish "AI Catalysts" Centers of Excellence in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. These centers will train 100,000 AI innovators and developers through hackathons, community-building activities, and an AI marketplace.
- AI Productivity Labs: Set up AI Productivity Labs in 20 National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) and NIELIT centers across 10 states. These labs will train 20,000 educators and provide foundational AI education to 100,000 students in 200 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).
- AI Solutions for Critical Sectors: Leverage Microsoft Research (MSR) expertise to develop AI-enabled solutions addressing challenges in critical sectors.
- Boosting Startups with Founders Hub: Microsoft’s Founders Hub will provide benefits, including Azure credits, business resources, and mentorship, to 1,000 AI startups under the IndiaAI Mission.
- Linguistic Inclusivity in AI: Develop foundational AI models supporting Indic languages to address India’s linguistic diversity and ensure cultural relevance.
- Building a Robust Dataset Platform: Support IndiaAI in creating scalable datasets, including tools for curation, annotation, and synthetic data generation.
- Responsible AI Development: Collaborate on creating frameworks, standards, and evaluation metrics for responsible AI, supporting the establishment of an AI Safety Institute in India.
